BLACKOUTBASEL 2015
BLACKOUTBASEL entwickelt Gastkurator SHAZEB ARIF S aus Mumbai während seines fünfmonatigen Aufenthaltes in einem der Ateliers Mondial (www.ateliermondial.com) in Basel. Die vielfältige Projektreihe zu BLACKOUTBASEL findet im Ausstellungsraum Klingental (www.ausstellungsraum.ch) ihr Hauptquartier.
Das Projekt erforscht im wöchentlichen Rhythmus verschiedene Subkulturen und experimentelle künstlerische Herangehensweisen in der Schweiz. So wird eine neue kreative Gemeinschaft entstehen – mit Beiträgen von Kunstschaffenden und Projekten aus Europa und der ganzen Welt. Gemeinsam ist die Vision, ein neues internationales Festival aufzubauen. Die Treffen dazu sind ihrerseits öffentliche, gastfreundliche Veranstaltungen und zugleich Vorbereitung für das eigentliche BLACKOUTBASEL Festival (11. bis 13. September). Das Festival lädt während dreier Tage und Nächte zu experimentellen Installationen und spontanen kollektiven Erfahrungen im öffentlichen Raum in Basel, wobei es auf den Austausch von Geld verzichtet. Es wird die vom 5. bis 20. September 2015 geplante Ausstellung im Ausstellungsraum Klingental um viele Dimensionen erweitern.
Der Kuratorenaustausch ist organisiert in Zusammenarbeit von der Schweizer Kulturstiftung Pro Helvetia, Atelier Mondial und Ausstellungsraum Klingental.
BLACKOUTBASEL wird unterstützt von der Christoph Merian Stiftung und der Jaqueline Spengler Stiftung. Die Reisespesen einiger der Künstler/innen des Life-Festivals werden unterstützt durch den Südkulturfonds.

The first appearance of #BlackoutBasel outside Switzerland with a Live Cinema performance by India's first visual band, Godgamut at the premiere meeting point for live video artists in the world. In the performance, Godgamut produced a live film titled, Melt, to the background score of Boneringing by Jamblu (India).

Imaginations of a new experimental community that will build an urban experiential festival in September 2015. At the #BlackoutBasel Open Studio, you can access the vision, plans and possibilities of the festival and add to it as an artist, curator or even an appreciator. Also featuring, what happens when a computer uses humans as its instruments (a performative installation), a piece from the globally traveling exhibition in briefcases - the show must goes on, and so on!
